PATH for Women Scholarship Fund for Pacific Islander Students

REACH US – Promoting Access to Health for Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian Women (PATH for Women), a breast and cervical cancer program working to address disparities among Asian and Pacific Islander communities, is offering the PATH for Women Scholarship Fund to Pacific Islander high school seniors and undergraduate college students who demonstrate significant merit in academics, workplace, and community with an interest in the health field. Five students will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship to offset their expenses at a two- or four-year accredited institution.

Eligibility


High school seniors and students who are currently or will be attending a two or four year institution that offers accredited, post-secondary instruction may apply. Applicants must be of Pacific Islander descent and must reside in Orange County, Los Angeles County or San Diego County or attend a college or university in one of these counties. Low income students and those who are of the first generation in their family to attend college are encouraged to apply.

OCAPICA Free SAT Program

As part of the OCAPICA Soar Afterschool Program, we are offering a FREE SAT Program for high school students from July to August for 6 weeks. Enrollment is limited. Priority will be given to seniors and juniors. Applications must be received by Monday, July 2nd.

C.A.L. 24 Summer 2006

An innovative and creative leadership program that supports the individuality and energy of today's youth culture, C.A.L. 24 ( C ultural A rtistic L eadership; 24 hours in a day) will feature interactive workshops on community issues, discussions on cultural history, and site visits while developing the participants' advocacy and organizing skills. Workshops topics will address wide ranging topics as such as multicultural history of America , preparing for college, public speaking and communication skills, and active self-reflection. Art is utilized throughout the program to reinforce these leadership traits and as a medium for communicating themes important to the youth. Participants will learn how to express themselves through photography, mural painting, creative writing, and film.

OCAPICA is offering a 6-week technology program introducing participants to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and GoLive. Learn how to edit photos, create publications, make web sites, and make flyers.

Project C.A.L. 24

OCAPICA is seeking high school youth to join Project C.A.L. 24. Project C.A.L. 24 is an innovative seven-week program held from July 11th to August 26th that will feature interactive workshops on culture, arts, and leadership development. At the completion of the program, participants will have developed skills that will enable them to make positive change in their communities while preparing themselves for successful futures. Applications are due July 5th.

SAT Program

As part of the OCAPICA afterschool program, we are offering a FREE six-week SAT Program for high school students that will run from July 12th to August 18th. All materials and diagnostics tests will be provided free of charge. Courses will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2PM to 5PM . Enrollment is limited. Applications must be received by July 5th . LEAP Fiscal Frankness Workshop

LEAP Community Workshop Series: Fiscal Frankness for Grassroots Community Based Organizations

 

From this workshop, you will learn about: • Identifying current funding sources including government sources • Setting a budget for your organization • Identifying the role of board members in fiscal responsibility • Documentation and accounting methods • Resolving compensation issues
