In response to the unnecessary fire in the Prado Verde Mobile Home Park in Westminster, CA, OCFA is teaming up with the Red Cross, CERT and the City of Westminster to provide FREE smoke alarms to all residents. On May 16th from 9:00 a.m-1 p.m. we will be going home-to-home and providing free smoke alarms, as well fire safety and carbon monoxide education.
Because this fire happened to a Vietnamese family, I’m reaching out to all of you (identified on OCAPICA’s website as Vietnamese Community Contacts) to help us recruit volunteers for the event. No experience is necessary; we just need people willing to donate their time to make families safer in their homes. We also need Vietnamese speaking volunteers to help communicate and provide safety messages to the non-English speaking families. Volunteers will be provided with a light breakfast, water and lunch. Please take a look at the attached flier and let me know if you or any of your agencies are able to help us make this community safer from unnecessary fires.
